About Siettah Parks

As the Associate Research Director for RFA’s Catalyst team, Dr. Siettah Parks serves as both a member of RFA’s organizational leadership team and a researcher. In her role on the OLT, Siettah supports with departmental management, contributes to the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals, represents the perspectives of the research staff, and works to ensure an equitable environment for all staff members.
As a research team member, Siettah supports and directs several projects that use community-engaged and participatory methodologies to explore issues related to social justice and racial equity in education, including numerous studies that focused on teacher diversity. Siettah is intentional about conducting research that centers marginalized people and includes participants in the process. Her goal is to contribute to the organization and the education research field in ways that help advance racial justice in education.

Siettah also has several years of experience in providing racial-equity focused, evidence-based professional development to educators through a national and global summer institute at Teachers College. In addition, Siettah has mentored and instructed graduate students in sociological qualitative research methods. She has previously worked in schools in Newark and New York City.

    In undergrad, I spent a term studying abroad with Semester at Sea – we visited 13 different countries while living on a ship for 2 and a half months!
