Research for Action (RFA) is conducting a quantitative study to determine the impact of the WHYY Media Labs program on student academic engagement, including attendance and credit attainment. This study responds to funders’ requests for detailed student outcome data, which supplements current survey and participation data. The study will focus on students from five School District of Philadelphia (SDP) schools during their first year of participation in the program in the 2023-24 academic year.
RFA will examine program participation data from WHYY and student engagement data from SDP, comparing participants to similar students who did not participate. The purpose is to create a thorough report that details the academic engagement outcomes of Media Labs participants. This evaluation aims to provide valuable insights into how the Media Labs program supports student engagement and academic success, helping to inform future program development and funding decisions.
