RFA is conducting a three-year evaluation of four K-3 early literacy intervention programs based in Philadelphia. These programs are aimed at improving the reading skills of K-3 students who need the most help through targeted literacy interventions and tutoring in both in-school and out-of-school settings. The evaluation of these programs is intended to provide evidence of program promise for improving K-3 literacy outcomes, identify unique successes and challenges across programs, and support program learning and improvement. The work of these programs and RFA’s supporting mixed-methods evaluation seeks to address the chronic struggles around early literacy in Philadelphia and support long-lasting educational improvements for the children served.
