In Memoriam: Judith Adamson

Judith A. Adamson, MBA, one of Research for Action’s founding members and its chief financial officer for more than 20 years, passed away on May 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Judy was unyieldingly committed to nonprofit organizations in Philadelphia and provided her strategic finance and management expertise to build their capacity and amplify their impact. In addition to her long-term service to RFA, Judy served in finance roles at the Community Education Center, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, and more recently, Children First (formerly Pennsylvania Citizens for Children and Youth) in finance roles.

Outside of her expansive career, Judy was a talented fiber artist. In her semi-retirement, she expanded her craftsmanship from sewing to felting and Saori weaving and proudly displayed her art at local galleries and shows. Judy was also a talented gardener, a world traveler, and an ardent supporter of the arts and theater. She was a devoted wife to her husband Fred, mother to Kevin, Megan, and Cally, and grandmother to Cecilia.

RFA’s 30+ year legacy continues because of the foundation that Judy built to realize the vision of founders, Jolley Christman and Eva Gold. With deep respect and in loving memory, we celebrate and honor Judy and her fierce allyship of nonprofits, women, children, education, and the arts.
