Since 2011, The National Science Foundation-funded project, SCI TALKS: Supporting Community Initiatives for Teaching, Learning and Knowing Science, has provided 247 at-risk West Virginia youth with innovative, engaging and meaningful after-school science taught by elementary pre-service teachers. RFA Senior Research Associate, Brittan Hallar, serves as Co-Principal Investigator for this project and is supporting the final phase of the research that focuses on understanding how the SCI TALKS experience continues to influence science teaching practices of former participants that are now full time elementary teachers.
