Research for Action is partnering with Equal Measure, Evident Change, and Cities United to evaluate the Anti-Violence Community Partnership Grants in Philadelphia. These grants are designed to support violence prevention and intervention efforts in neighborhoods heavily affected by gun violence. The evaluation focuses on the second year of the Community Expansion Grants (CEG), assessing how well these programs serve individuals most impacted by gun violence and whether they have built on the progress from the first year.
The project will address several key questions, including the effectiveness of CEG-funded programs in reaching Black and Brown men and boys aged 16-34 who are at high risk for gun violence. It will also examine how representative the program staff are of the people they serve, the strategies used to engage their target populations, and how these programs provide continuous support to participants. Additionally, RFA seeks to identify how the City of Philadelphia and associated partners can better support CEG-funded programs and overcome barriers that limit their effectiveness in serving communities most impacted by gun violence. By analyzing both short- and long-term outcomes, RFA aims to measure the success of these programs in reducing gun violence, increasing services, and improving the quality of life in affected communities.
