Philadelphia’s Community Schools initiative was launched in 2016. The effort pairs a full-time coordinator with each school and its community to pinpoint needed services and coordinate their delivery via city agencies and non-profits.
Research shows that a strong start provides the foundation needed for community schools to thrive. With generous funding from the Ford Foundation and in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Education, RFA developed this Community Schools Progress Report to track the early planning and implementation of the initiative, and to assess progress against national best practices.
RFA’s Progress Report tracks the first cohort of nine Community Schools selected in summer 2016.
